Program Manager – Organizational Development & Learning at OneMain Financial

Matthew Pfeffer

Q: What is your educational background?

BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Minnesota.

Q: How long have you been in the OD field?

I’ve been in a formal OD role for the last 3 years, but have been practicing OD for over 6 years via roles in L&D team member onboarding, talent management, and leadership development.

Q: How long have you been a member of MNODN?

1 ½ years.

Q: Why did you join?

I joined as a way to explore the OD world, and everything that it entails, in a structured environment outside of my formal work group.

Q: What benefits do you gain from membership?

I absolutely love meeting new people and gaining different perspectives. In the short amount of time I’ve been a part of MNODN, I’ve met the most amazing individuals who have helped me become not just a better OD practitioner but a more well rounded human being.

Q: Have you been a board member or volunteer with MNODN? If so, please share your  experience/benefits.

I’m excited to be formally joining the incredibly talented MNODN board as the Director of Programming and am looking forward to continuing, and building upon, the fantastic programming that I’ve been benefiting from.

Q: What advice do you have for people entering the field?

Be proactive about reaching out to and learning from others. Harvard psychologist Dan Gilbert said “human beings are works in progress that mistakenly think we’re finished.” OD, like people, is constantly changing and evolving. Meet new people, hear their stories, learn from their experiences and always be willing stretch and grow as an individual.
