Making Sense of Use of Self: The Key to Your Effectiveness Abstract
Dr. Dave Jamieson

Leader or change agent, new or experienced, your impact is inter-twined with who you are and how you manage your self in action. After all the personality variables, education, and training, outcomes depend a great deal on how you use your self.  Every day we are faced with situations in which it is important to understand what is really going on, be present and conscious, have clear intentions and use choices in your action-taking. In this session, get practical learning and simple models to clarify what use of self means, how it operates and how anyone can begin their own development. Using lecturettes and short, engaging experiential activities, learn about self and others, gain insights into what you might need to “manage” to get desired impacts, and understand the usefulness of use of self in common aspects of our work.

Dr. Jamieson is Professor and Chair, Organization Development Programs, at the University of St. Thomas. He is also President of the Jamieson Consulting Group, Inc. and a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in other OD programs. He has nearly 50 years of experience consulting to organizations on leadership, change, strategy, design and human resource issues.
